In the first quarter of 2025, IFF's transparency vertical filed 15 RTI applications to seek accountability from public institutions on digital rights issues and received some significant information with a mix of some omissions and evasions.

Fact-Checking or Fact-Hiding? Our RTI inquiring about the Karnataka Fact Checking Unit rejected!

Our RTI request with the Bengaluru Police inquiring about the constitution of a fact check unit (FCU) was rejected stating it as ‘completely vague, speculative and questionable’. However, since then the Chief Minister of Karnataka has reportedly approved the setting up of a state-level FCU.

Revealed: MeitY blocked 6096 URLs and 347 applications in 2021 but held less than 40 hearings

In reply to an RTI, MeitY has accepted that it blocked 6096 URLs and 347 applications in 2021 but held less than 40 hearings. MeitY refused to disclose the number of requests it received to block content and stated that it did not maintain data on how many content creators were granted a hearing.
